Change Coming Soon!

16 02 2009

Well, with some of my recent gameplay changes (such as officially switching over to my tankadin as my main) Frost Trap Resist will have to undergo some changes. Hopefully soon, but I have to find some time to make a new header, think of a more universal name for the blog, and figure out which direction I’m going in.

So please forgive the mess, hopefully all the paint will dry by the weekend.

Some Screenshots

11 01 2009

After having had an epic battle with my computer a few weeks ago, my screenshot folder was lost in the fray. My harddrive had died, and I had to reinstall WoW and all of my addons. But I have taken some new pictures since then, which I’m going to share. I love my new gear (though my shoulders are still BLAH) and love how the Northrend stuff looks.

I was helping a friend get a Ghost Saber pet like my beloved Buttons, and happened to get an item off the Cat Figurines that summons a Ghost Saber! He stealthed upon summon, so he’s a bit shy. Picture taken in the Horde Inn in Dalaran. =)

Playing with some Critter Bites. Fear my army of Critters!

Shameless plug. I’ve seen my dps better than that, and I don’t remember what we were doing… Probably Naxx. Also, that’s my new UI, less cluttered with stuff like my old one, though a bit less streamlined. That’s called “laziness after the new patch and I had to figure out what addons were still working!”

Not Dead

1 07 2008

This has been pretty typical lately, hasn’t it? With a lack of new things to really write about, I think a lot of us have slipped into a bit of a lull. Or at least I have.

I’m looking forward to the new patch, mostly for the new Nether Ray Fry pet and the flying height of non-combat pets being changed. Little things that make me happy but that don’t really affect my gameplay. Mounts at level 30 is great and all, but my two main characters are 70 and 45.

However, we have heard some interesting new news about Hunter changes in Lich King. These changes are: Steady Shot no longer clipping Auto Shot. No more complex shot rotations. Figures that this would be announced not too long after I finally started to really enjoy my shot rotations! The other change is to our pets. Obviously we are getting new pet families. Mania over at Petopia got a tip from a nameless Hunter who played the test of Lich King at the WWI saying that they’re adding Moths as a new pet family (don’t you think this should have been in BC, what with the moths all around in the Draenei starting zone?).  The BIG news is pet talent trees. Tanking, DPS, and Utility are the three trees, all of which will be unique to each family. No more training points!

I posted my reaction to the loss of shot rotations over at Pike’s blog which is copied here:

—-At first when I heard about the steady shot change, I was excited. “Awesome, I’ll be able to get off more shots, and haste won’t matter so much, etc, etc…” But then I kinda sat there and thought about it. “So… how am I supposed to play? What do I do now?” It was like they took away my theoretical bicycle said “We’re going to fix it!” and brought be back a dune buggy or something. Yeah, I suppose that a dune buggy is ‘better’ than a bicycle, but I don’t know how to make it work!

However, Hunters have been complaining about Steady Shot (at least as far as I understand) since it was released. I never played pre-BC, so I don’t know what Hunter-ing was like back then. But according to Blizz and a lot of pre-BC hunters, Steady Shot was a problem. Blizz themselves said (as quoted by WoWInsider I believe; I read it yesterday) Hunters were hurting their own dps “by using their skills” which in the case of some Hunters, is true. Blizz is trying to make us more like other classes. Classes who get to use their abilities when they are up.

I can understand both sides of the coin with the apprehension towards the Steady Shot change… on one side I’m happy that I can use my skills however and whenever. On the other side, I’m going to miss ‘getting into the groove’ of shot rotations. It took me a while to let go of the Macro training wheels, but once I did, I really fell in love with the rhythm.

And yeah… the pet changes do make me super-super-happy. =3 —-

Practically a mini-blog post in of itself.

In other news, an update! I should be getting my Netherdrake in the next day or so. I’ve been grinding dailies for the last week and a half (it’s been nice to have something to do when I log on, by the way) and I should have my hard work paying off with my lovely blue drake. I originally wanted the green one, but one of our guild leaders got that one already. There’s only one other person in the guild with one (our other guild leader) and he got the black one. So I’m getting the bright blue one!

…So now I’m waiting for the servers to get back up so I can do my dailies!

The New UI

28 05 2008

I don’t even WANT to go into how long this took me to put together. Trying to find the mod to make that little background-bar-thingie was like pulling teeth. WoWInterface’s search engine is only good if you know the name of the addon you want.

But there it is, my labor of love. I made this after trying out Spartan UI v2 and not being altogether pleased with my lack of pet’s target window, lack of a good buff window, and having my portrait and targets at the bottom of the screen.

Edit:

Here’s the final UI at the beginning of Kara. I added Aperture to my list of addons for that black bar at the bottom (basically it negates that part of the screen and modifies the size of WoW window).

Twitter

11 05 2008

I added a little Twitter RSS feed on the side there, and I’m surprised by how quickly the messages get sent from my phone to the site! Most of the Twittering will probably not be very related to what’s going on with my hunter, but that’s okay. =3

Edit: Okay, because WordPress doesn’t fully support Twitter properly, I’m not seeing updates like I should. So, if you’re interested, you can just click on it and get the full updates!

Hunters in PuGs

24 04 2008

I don’t know if any of my hunter brothers and sisters have felt the hunter-stigma as I have. But I’m getting tired of joining a PuG for something with a hunter guildie and immediately hearing “ugh, two hunters?” or any other such bullshit. That is what happened tonight. Some bitchy warlock had the nerve to say that, and then chipped in with a “well, as long as you keep your traps up.” I wanted to knock that goddamn bitch out.

And I don’t want anyone trying to tell me how to play my damn class. If you want to try and lay all of the CC responsibility on me when the other hunter (who was sub par at best) has to bail out and the only thing you can get is a shaman… fine. I got it. But you know what, don’t be an asshole to me. Just because I’m a hunter doesn’t mean that I’m not good at what I do. I’m sorry that you chose to play a class that also has a pet because it’s the only way that you can do well at the game. I’m sure that playing a warlock isn’t nearly as difficult as having to chain trap something, pay attention to shots, keep an eye on the pet, and any of the other things hunters have to do. I’m sure it’s real simple to just dot things up and use noobcoil.

Any person who wants to treat me like any retard can play a hunter WELL can go shut the hell up and leave me alone.

Now I remember why I rarely join PuG groups anymore. Because no one likes hunters, because most of them assume we’re all huntards.
