Kara and Growl

28 04 2008

First off, we ran Kara again starting after Curator last night. We got Shade of Aran in one try! =D Though who knows if that will be the case after the creature-cast polymorph change. We don’t have enough dps to power through his health faster than his mana yet, though I think we had it pretty close. At that point I think quite a few of us were oom with pots already popped and no way of getting more mana.

We did Chess with no problems. I made sure to grab myself a summoned daemon this time. =3

Then we decided to backtrack to try our hand at Illhoof. And got our asses handed to us. We were okay on the chains and keeping the sacrificed person healed, it was just all the imp spawns were killing the two people we had keeping them occupied. They ended up piling up on us and we wiped the second attempt at maybe 50%ish.

All of this new stuff with Growl is having quite a few hunters up in arms. I definitely noticed a change in Cuddles’ aggro as soon as 2.4 went live, but I’ve adapted around it since it only mattered while doing dailies. However, I can imagine it may be posing a serious problem for the lower hunters. Mania over at Petopia is trying to gather some data, but seems to be having problems showing evidence for Growl scaling with the hunters RAP. Hopefully we’ll get some word on this soon before 2.4.2 goes live.

I’m also a little excited about the buff to Aspect of the Viper. I’ve gotten used to having to swap Aspects during boss fights. It’s inevitable, so I’m happy to see that Viper will be a bit more useful than it has been. Hopefully swapping aspects and popping a potion will hold me over mana-wise for longer.

And MY Axe…

26 04 2008

So apparently my last post skyrocketed my views for yesterday. I went from around 14 or 15 on a good day to getting 60 yesterday. Wow. I don’t know if I pissed people off or what, but my views chart now looks very different.

Anywho. Target Dummy ran Kara last night, and we cleared to Curator as we had hoped to in our 3.5 hour time frame. We had some trouble with double pulls clearing to Attumen, wiped once, but got to Midnight before the respawn timer and downed them with no problems. Got our badges, some loot, and continued onto Moroes. No problems getting to Moroes, but had a few hitches in the actual fight. We downed him in one try (woo hoo! haven’t done that in a while…) despite having some trouble with CCing two of the adds. We always down the two women because of mana drain, heals, etc. The two men are always CC’d. Last night I got the Ret Pally I believe. My problem with him was that he kept stunning me and then running off after our Priest instead of politely just running towards me and into the trap. Now that I think about it, my problem may have been that I wasn’t putting enough distance between him and myself. If I put the trap relatively close to him and then run a fair distance away, he should have to get closer to me to try and stun me, and therefore hit the trap before he gets in range. We ended up taking out the other CC target who we were keeping shackled, and that way the priest was able to throw a shackle on my target so that my trap timing could reset…

So, downed Moroes and headed up to Opera. Thankfully, I think my /pray was heard by the gods of the random number generator and we got the Oz event. Out of all the Opera choices, we do Oz the best… not to mention Legacy finally dropped for me! I was so excited! Now I just need to get an enchant on it… =/

The only things that I have left that are blue now are my pants, a ring, and a trinket…

Anywho. We got up to Curator, and had some interesting issues with a bugged group in Curator’s room. This meant repositioning on the Curator fight, and some careful maneuvering around while I was Misdirection+Aimed Shot pulling the blueberries and their little Syphoner friends. Downed Curator, and our off-tank got his new helm (yay!) and our new Holy Paladin got his t4 gloves! With a total of 7 new badges, we called it a night until Sunday.

Hunters in PuGs

24 04 2008

I don’t know if any of my hunter brothers and sisters have felt the hunter-stigma as I have. But I’m getting tired of joining a PuG for something with a hunter guildie and immediately hearing “ugh, two hunters?” or any other such bullshit. That is what happened tonight. Some bitchy warlock had the nerve to say that, and then chipped in with a “well, as long as you keep your traps up.” I wanted to knock that goddamn bitch out.

And I don’t want anyone trying to tell me how to play my damn class. If you want to try and lay all of the CC responsibility on me when the other hunter (who was sub par at best) has to bail out and the only thing you can get is a shaman… fine. I got it. But you know what, don’t be an asshole to me. Just because I’m a hunter doesn’t mean that I’m not good at what I do. I’m sorry that you chose to play a class that also has a pet because it’s the only way that you can do well at the game. I’m sure that playing a warlock isn’t nearly as difficult as having to chain trap something, pay attention to shots, keep an eye on the pet, and any of the other things hunters have to do. I’m sure it’s real simple to just dot things up and use noobcoil.

Any person who wants to treat me like any retard can play a hunter WELL can go shut the hell up and leave me alone.

Now I remember why I rarely join PuG groups anymore. Because no one likes hunters, because most of them assume we’re all huntards.

Falling Into Place

24 04 2008

My fiance’ and I have finally picked a date for our wedding. We’ll have been engaged for a year in June, and hadn’t been able to decide when to get married due to college, money, insurance issues, etc. Well, we’ve finally just gone “forget it, let’s just pick a date and work around what’s going on in our lives when the time comes.” It’s still a good year and a half away, but Ed and I are going to be married on January 9th, 2010.

My mother and I are going to start looking at chapels, dresses, bridesmaid dresses, I have to pick my bridesmaids, Ed has to pick his groomsmen… /sigh

So much to do and so long to wait!

Raid Progression, Despite All Odds

22 04 2008

As a quick update this morning (since I have to head off to class and then work soon) Target Dummy did in fact down Shade of Aran and the Chess event for the first time last night, much to the excitement of all. We are lucky to have been able to do so, because it seemed like everything was out to try and not let us go last night. First off we didn’t think that we would have enough people/enough TANKS so apparently our guild leader called off the raid. One of our co-leaders, a mage, then made other plans. This all happened before I even logged on for the night, and apparently we had enough people sign up by the time I got on. So, the fact that we have enough people gets mentioned to me, our mage says that she saw it was cancelled and had made other plans. She apparently got out of them however, and was able to join us. Yay.

So nine of us get into Kara, waiting for our Resto Druid to sign on. He’s still in High School, so we imagine he’s finishing off dinner with the parents or something, so we patiently wait for him to sign on. He does, but doesn’t realize that we have enough people for Kara and apparently he had read about the raid being canceled as well. However, he could not get out of his plans and had to go. So just as the guild leader is about to call it on account of not having the healers for it, one of our newer members (a rogue) tells us he’ll get on his Holy Paladin and save the day! *cheers*

So we get going into Curator’s room, no problem. When we get into the library however, we start getting hit with massive lag spikes. Like, we’re talking 5-10 second lag spikes. They eventually stop as we get out of the library, though we were hit with one or two little ones during Shade of Aran. Thankfully we got him the second time (the first time he was prematurely pulled) and proceeded onto Chess.

Whoops

16 04 2008

I have this nasty habit of forgetting about things like blogs. But that is to be expected, what with getting a new job that is limiting my time at home. And that time is spent either with the fiance’ or on WoW.

So, quick update time. We’ve downed up to Curator in Kara, got Shade of Aran to 2% (AARGH!), and have been working on getting a solid raid schedule down that will work with some of our new tanks. So far I only have pants, a trinket, a ring, and my polearm that are still blue, and my t4 gloves.

Ona Geared

Like all the other hunters out there are having problems with, I too am dealing with the mana shortage issue, and have to spend more money on Mana pots now and spend more time than I’d like in Aspect of the Viper. This problem has frustrated me especially in the Curator fight, because my loss of damage means that the sparks aren’t going down as fast as they should be. We’ve only wiped on Curator once before, but it’s still a frustrating side effect.

I have my epic flier (I got the green one) and I’m working on grinding out my Skyguard rep for my ray. I got my mining to 375, my engineering is at 358 or so, and I don’t owe anyone any money! I had to borrow 600g from a guildie, and was glad to quickly pay her back. I hate having outstanding debts to my friends in game.

Not much else other than some gradual Kara progression and the excitement of gear. I still want to get my hands on that axe from Opera: Oz, and I’m saving my badges for the Shifting Camouflage pants.
