Sethekk Halls

Now, I’ve run Sethekk Halls a number of times. For me, it is one of the easiest instances to find a group for and I usually don’t have to deal with too many stupid players. However, last night seemed to be different.

This is how it went:

I log onto Ona, glance at my xp. I’m at about 41% if I remember correctly, with over 200k rested. Awesome! Let’s go get some xp to get closer to 69. I logged in at Orgrimmar, don’t remember why I was there. Then I get a tell from a lowbie hunter that I had helped a while back who seems to have adopted me as his hunter guru. He apparently has asked 17 other people if he could get a run through SM, and that they had all turned him down. All right, I could go for some laid back instance action. I tell him to meet me outside of Undercity and I take the Zeppelin over. Then I remembered I needed more meat for Cuddles and arrows so I hearth back to Shadowmoon Valley, fly to Shattrath, etc.

We start Graveyard, because he’s only 32 and to be perfectly honest I’d never run it before. Clear it no problem. I ended up killing Vishas without even realizing it and had Cuddles on Aggressive. Now this hunter… He’s a grade A Huntard. I’ve done some Huntardish things in the past, sure. I think everyone has, even the most skilled hunters can slip up now and again. No, he kept using multi-shot and drawing aggro and just generally being a dumbass. Then he starts linking me gear and asking if it’s good. He has a blue crossbow and a blue polearm, both pretty worthless. They don’t have any stat bonuses, and all the polearm did was have a chance to poison. The crossbow didn’t even DO anything. I told him promptly that just because they’re blue doesn’t mean that they’re good for him, and left it at that. Mentioned that he should be focusing on Agi and Stam at his level.

But I ended up running him through Graveyard, Armory, and part of Library before I said goodbye and rode the hearth reset of leaving a group in an instance. Not a huge waste of time, in my opinion, because I got to have fun feeling awesome by killing things half my level.

So I fly back over to Shattrath, deciding to check on the PvP daily. Joined some LFG’s, and then hopped on into Gulch. I’m not even going to how terrible it was, because it was over in like 5 minutes with Alliance capping the flag 3 times before Horde could even blink. Me and another hunter were the only ones guarding the flag, while everyone else failed at capping.

During Gulch I get an invite to a group so I accept. After I get out I find myself in a group with a Shaman and one other, I don’t remember. Skipping forward to when we finally get a group together, we have the Shammy healing (he’s Elemental), Warrior tanking (pretty sure he was Fury), a Rogue, and a Mage. Now, the problem with this group wasn’t so much our tank, but the Shammy. I can’t even count how many times the tank died, and by the room before Ikiss when the tank died, AGAIN, the Shammy apologized for letting him die and the tank responded with a simple “I’m used to it.” I just wanted to “=/” and leave it at that. Nothing I could do, really.

So we go to tackle Ikiss, and after three people explain to hide behind the pillars, the Shammy dies. We try again, he dies again. We try again, he doesn’t get nuked this time, but he just isn’t good enough at healing to carry the fight. We tried SO many times, and I was just like, “Look, it’s 3:45AM, I’m tired, and we’re not getting anywhere.” This was the general consensus, so we disbanded and went to sleep.

Sethekk REALLY it’s that hard…
